Thanks

Will do... should have some time off this afternoon (UK time) ;)

Here you go Zukebob (and anyone else that needs this info)

At the top is a Saurai intermediary prop, and at the bottom a standard* Jimny one...

The Samurai one is 36cm from the flange to the end of the dust cover
The Jimny one is 46cm for the same measurement

Ref Martin’s cautionary comment, the dust cover and splined connectors are both the same on each prop*

*measurements based on a standard Jimny intermediary propshaft, other models (diesel / R72 etc) may differ?

Hope that helps?!

So we’d have to lose 10cm / 4” out of a standard intermediary prop?

This Samurai seems okay, the UJs are sound (as they usually run in a pretty straight line anyway) so I’m thinking of sacrificing the Jimny one, to cut it “in half” and see if it’s hollow and whether ‘we’ could source seamless tube the right size to make a sleeve to shorten the prop accordingly....

B) So taking into consideration we fit a spacer, so i would need 88mm taken out the middle correct ?

The spine attached...

Using 8mm c 45mm cap head bolts with spring washers...

And there’s good scope to fix the spine to a bucket mount yet to be designed (when the jig is made) -

Thats deceptive then in your pictures. There are certainly at least two different length intermediate props on the SJ, a "short" prop and a "long" prop and I have not seen any measurements before to confirm the difference. There are also different intermediate props on the Jimny between the older gearbox and the newer one as well as the autos.

I’m just documenting my own findings... I don’t profess to be an expert, hence the disclaimer in bold that this is what I have found with the props I have and my previous Jimny...

”Other props are available” ;)
