The "jacking point" on the Gen4, just happens to be where the casing would be liable to crack. ;)

Steve.

Hi Steve, Yes that looks like something Suzuki have thought about. Their solution is much smaller and lighter than my way (which is actually just a copy of the ones JimnyBits sell).

Is it the same on front and rear axles then?

Yes - but yours look far better!

Thats good news about both axles having some improvements then. I wonder if the dimensions are the same  I will have a measure and post some notes here over the weekend...

Managed to get home a decent time tonight, so into the garage :-)

Stripped the old paint of these KAP radius arms (more cast-offs from J999MNY) and also a transfer box guard destined for Lambert. Quick clean and onto spraying. This is the second 4 litre raptor black kit just started and used 1st bottle. Discovered I had the spray gun set way too open on the last round of black painting, hence using too much paint and not getting far enough with it. Much better now ive got the hang of the spray gun settings. Expensive learning curve, but still way cheaper than paying a spray shop to do it thankfully :woohoo:

some piccies this time as well...

Yay! :cheer: Finally finished spraying stuff :cheer:

Last three bottles of the raptor is not quite enough. Have managed to get all the important stuff done, but was hoping to have spare to do all of the underbody. Managed to get a fair bit done, but another bottle would have finished it underneath totally. Also didnt have enough to spray the snorkel and wheel arches, but as these look pretty much the same anyway, I dont think it will matter.

I have one spare bottle of the red left, which I am saving until the cage is back on (incase of accidents fitting it).

Leave it all to dry and put back together next weekend (busy elsewhere tomorrow).

Change of plans today so a bit more fiddling been done.

Lambert was going to meet me for the transfer guard at the job I was meant to be doing, but instead came all the way out to where I live for the guard, a good chinwag and a bacon butty :-). Top bloke and great to put another Jimny face to a name.

So after all that there wasnt much time. Had a bit of a tidy up and started with the front end. Bonnet plates fitted with some black pop rivets and looking good B)

Then headlight masks and the small bonnet front air vents. Not bad. Need to fiddle about with panel gaps on the wings and lights but thankfully they have oval holes in the fitting points for this.

Yep brilliant to meet another member in person. Great bloke. Some people would argue that 5 hours in the saddle to do the postmans job for him is daft, they would be wrong! And I got a sneak peek at Ulysses too, what an epic bit of equipment that is going to be. Oh and Ric I'm not wanting to make you jealous or anything but got home with about another 50 mile in the tank /smug face/. Anyway thanks for the guard and also the wise counsel.

Front axle casing back on with springs and shocks...

...and managed to get the nice 26 spline trailgear shafts/CVs in as well. Not as much progress as I wanted today, but the panhard rod was putting up a fight to get it adjusted (an old Jimnybits HD one from J999MNY). The springs and shocks were looking a bit crusty so have been on the rack for a fresh coat of paint as well. Think I even have some spare 'Trailmaster by MAAS' stickers somewhere to go on hopefully.

Looking pretty good for getting the front finished together tomorrow morning hopefully. Onto the rear, but Im away for the rest of the day so that will have to wait to next week.
