Thanks for the info on the cutting, Decided to have a go with the grinder and fairly pleased with it:
printed a S as big as i could on A4 paper, cut out and reversed. spray painted over it and cut out. trimmed up with a die grinder and hand files
The cut out S might be some use for the back?
though its a bit rough, being the off-cut. Wouldnt be that hard to make a fresh one
.
Then a bit of recycling of an old winch tray to integrate into the bumper nicely:
and time to remove the cage. not easy on my own, but rigged up the winch on J999MNY and put it to good use
for welding up all the bits i couldnt reach when it was on the car. Hopefully this will be the only time its upside down :silly:

Really nice Riccy are you planning to mount anything on those arches, there a lot of space there. Could put a couple of lockable chests each side for extra storage
Looking forward to seeing it with some colour
Well done that man

Thanks guys
Daniel yes there is some plans to mount something on top of the rear wings. I have some ammo boxes and jerry cans which would look the part, maybe not fit all that well so I will probably end up making something that fits (who's got a box & pan folder then? ). I do have some fancy load lashing eye things which will be fitted here and there, as well as a custom made tarpaulin cover for the load bed on order.
Kieth; I will get it on a weigh bridge yes, suspect it will be heavier than standard. The cage probably weighs more than the removed body section, the front bumper is defo much heavier and its not got the winch in yet. Loadbed is fairly light being a thin trailer body and alloy checker plate.
