Take a look at the Eriba - nice van with a lifting roof - getting a bit collectible now but well built and you can pick one up sometimes needing some renovation.

I think the best suggestion would be to Hire one for a week and get out and about with it. Load up with all the goods you would normally take, crockery and cutlery, clothes and sleeping stuff. Food and full water tank, outdoor chairs, fishing equipment etc. It is easy to add another 200 kgs with everything. Then you may find that towing is like have the Queen Mary attached to the rear.

Do some hills, some back roads. Take it off-road and get to those lovely places by the creeks. Get down to the beach etc.

Anyway, I'm well sorted and know the limitations of my car and you will quickly find out for yourself. ;)

@ ruby2 :

The only advice i can give you is : whatever you purchase for towing behind your Jimny...
make shure it has brakes on it !!!
It will cost you more money, but that is what my family's safety worth.
A visit to the hospital will cost you lot's more and there are even more serious and sad situation's after a crash.

I did bought my camping trailer, it didn't had brakes on it, so i asked if it was possible to put a braked axle under it.
It was... so i did spend an extra 200 € (around 167 £) more...
But it had also a second positive point too, the braked axle is about 2,5 inch wider then the original one.
So i have a very stabile trailer hanging behind the Jimny and going into the mountains (France, Spain, Portugal), i'm quite happy to know that i have some extra brakes on the trailer.
You will not regret it !
:)

Thanks all.
I can't seem to get the Cockpit out of my mind. I just love the look and the interior design.
