Can I tow I tow a lightweight Caravan with a Jimny
I then ran it vertically down and up under the bottom lip of the door and along the inside edge of the lip towards the hinge. I used sticky pads to fix it.
I then tapped in to the offside sidelight by running the wire vertically upwards and looped over the rubber wire cover for support and down through the gap between the hinge and door and straight down behind the bumper.
The rear light was removed and the wire inserted through the grommet and scotch clipped in to the sidelight wire and earth wire.
It sounds more complicated than it is and has worked for the last couple of years with no problems.
If you want a pic I'll try and get one tomorrow.
You could of course drill the door and run the wire inside the door and out through the rubber bellows type flexible wiring cover and down to the light that way but I didn't want to drill the door.
Another option might be to connect to your towbar or vehicle wiring but that might mean a lot of work getting to it?
I did consider getting a towbar plug and some coiled flexible cable and plugging in to the towbar but decided it was more trouble than it was worth and would get in the way.
I started off high and worked my way down ever since

I'm nearly there now with my number plate on the spare wheel.
I removed the stickers with a hair dryer and drilled the cover for the plate bracket and a number plate lamp.
I've used a number plate fixing bracket that tilts up so I can get to the nut to remove it, but this has caused its own problem in that the lamp sits too far back and would be shining behind the plate oh dear going to have to buy some spacers to move it out by 1/2" or so.
I've also got a waterproof connector like you off eBay.
I understood your wiring route pretty much but I'm wondering if you could show the pics of the wiring if it's not too much trouble
That'd be a real help!
Thanks
Richard

I mounted it on a vertical 4" wide aluminium plate with enough plate at the top to take a standard chrome number plate light, all off ebay.
I bought some extra plate and screwed it horizontally on the spare wheel cover.
I bent both pieces a little so that the number plate just drops in so that the plate can be removed if the spare wheel needs using.
I also bought a waterproof connector off ebay to split the wire for removal.
You could use a standard Ifor Williams black plastic mounting plate with light bracket and do the same?
It sounds more complicated than it is but if you had the full stainless type cover you could just bolt the plate and light directly to it as you don't need access to the bolt holding the cover on?
There are also a pair of spring clips available which just bolt to a flat surface and allow you to mount the plate that way.
If your towbar is removable you don't have to do all this as it's only the fixed bars that partially mask the number plate for the MOT! Even then it's not masked by much.
If you want details I'll take some pics but it's only takes an hour or so work
