I made it up using a standard chrome type number plate surround.
I mounted it on a vertical 4" wide aluminium plate with enough plate at the top to take a standard chrome number plate light, all off ebay.
I bought some extra plate and screwed it horizontally on the spare wheel cover.
I bent both pieces a little so that the number plate just drops in so that the plate can be removed if the spare wheel needs using.
I also bought a waterproof connector off ebay to split the wire for removal.
You could use a standard Ifor Williams black plastic mounting plate with light bracket and do the same?
It sounds more complicated than it is but if you had the full stainless type cover you could just bolt the plate and light directly to it as you don't need access to the bolt holding the cover on?
There are also a pair of spring clips available which just bolt to a flat surface and allow you to mount the plate that way.
If your towbar is removable you don't have to do all this as it's only the fixed bars that partially mask the number plate for the MOT! Even then it's not masked by much.
If you want details I'll take some pics but it's only takes an hour or so work

Note that the chrome parts are plastic!!
You could of course use a motorcycle plate mounting but with a proper number plate light?

Hi Ruby2
Just caught up with your subject. I started a thread off a 3 months ago "working Jimny" which developed into the towing capacity of our little loves.
Whilst I know very little about caravaning. As a retired fleet engineer (40 years) I should know a little about vehicle towing combinations. People talk alot about what a tractive unit will safely pull on/off road and in the case of domestic vehicles un braked or braked axles.
Assuming the gross combination weight is as per the vin plate and the trailer size is sensible (will not cause instability within the combination due to side winds or passing vehicles)
I would just like to add a very important aspect to a braked trailer comination is to ensure the trailer brake predominance is set up properly. I have been responsible for heavy truck/trailers with perfect maintained brakes only to find a driver with a potental jackknife developing due to a predominance valve wrongly set up on the unit.
Hope you find the right caravan.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNow is the time to look for a caravan. Don't wait until spring.
On ebay search for any known make you fancy or do a general search for
pop top caravan
pop up caravan
lightweight caravan
or small, micro, mini etc etc you get the idea.
The only proviso I would make re small caravans is that if you normally stop on one site for a few days or more I would look for one with an awning. That way you can eat and generally live in an extra room as these small caravans can become a little crowded and you can leave the bed set up. If touring I would suggest you get one with a toilet compartment.
How about this for a modern, sporty type?? Door's on the wrong side though

For some reason I can't see your pictured you've sent me.
I've not tried all your search ideas, so I'll have a go and see what I can find
