That's correct.

I have looked into this with VOSA who is my biggest customer. You can tow a trailer with a higher capacity than the towing vehicle as long as the actual weight is is not over the vehicles capacity.
Its just the police who do not understand this.

So you can tow an empty 3500kg trailer behind a little jimny as long as it's unladen weight is below the capacity of the jimny.

You are only braking the law if your licence does not allow you to tow a plated combination over 3500kg if you do not have the B+E entitlement. However you can still tow without B+E a 750kg trailer if the tow vehicle is upto 3500kg = 4250kg.

That Adria looks sweeeeet!
Looks a but heavy though :-0 and possibly a bit long.
I'll have to go measure up on their website.
Plus to be fair I really need a pop top so it's not too tall and obtrusive :-/
I do like the looks of it though.

I have been responsible for heavy truck/trailers with perfect maintained brakes only to find a driver with a potental jackknife developing due to a predominance valve wrongly set up on the unit.

This advice is likely to cause confusion given that car trailers use over-run brakes, where there is no adjustment of predominance. The importance of having effective, maintained and well adjusted brakes should be stressed, but talk of predominance and adjusting valves in vehicles which don't have them is irrelevant.

Point taken Busta

Just there is many an over-run brake trailer out there with alot of play in the linkage or cables before anything happens at the shoes. I was only trying to make people who plan on pulling heavy trailers (by Jimny standards) aware of the potential dangers.

I would suggest the content of the thread were driving licence categories were brought into the discuss put me back to my former life (senior moment) LOL. I will put my proffesional hat back in the cupboard and say no more on the subject.

The only benefit of age is experience.

@gilburton
I've bought a LED number plate lamp and a number plate holder that folds up ! So I can put it over the hole to remove the spare wheel cover and lift it to get the cover off.
I'm wondering if you can tell me how you wired up the lamp ie where did you route the wire and did you use the original number plate lamp wiring for the supply?
Thanks again
Richard
