Years ago, I used to tow a Freedom Microlite behind my Vitara, and Jamie Cooper had one behind his Jimny too...
Mine did have a 4" lift, sidebars and knobbly tyres though!!!
LOL

I have literally just got back today from 10 days holiday touring Scotland with a freedom Microlite.
I can confirm that the Jimny coped well. It is a little under powered on those long motorway inclines but if you stay around 50 ish you will find most trucks will appreciate this as they will easily overtake and you won't be a nuisance.
It easily held 50/60 mph for most of the journey there.
As for handling I have a friction damper and the caravan was no problem.
You have to think ahead a bit.
I didn't alter the tyre pressures and left them standard 23 front,26 rear.
Initially I put the awning and other stuff in the car but I found the ride was a bit choppy so I put the awning back in the caravan on the floor over the axle and that was that problem solved.
I went East coast via Edinburgh,A9 up to Helmsdale,Wick,Thurso,John O'Groats then along the north coastal road A838 to Durness in the far north west corner by Cape Wrath.
I then came back south on the A838 via Ullapool before cutting back across to Inverness on the A835 before heading for Edinburgh and the A1 south back to Northamptonshire.
There is at least 35 miles of single track road on this route and the Jimny coped with it all.
These roads were covered at around 40/45 mph and you wouldn't want to go faster anyway!!
My Freedom is a UK version i.e. the door is on the left so the sloping window is at the front making aerodynamics a bit better but I think the jimny cuts through the air quite well as condensation on the caravan front window took some time to clear when moving off first thing in the morning.
I'll post some pics in the next few days.
Needless to say the car is standard so I didn't go off road.
The caravan weighs 460 kgs empty and is 750 kgs max. I don't know what my weight was but I had 2 gas bottles, leisure battery, water, toilet food and all the other bits and pieces you need.
So,to answer your question,Yes the Jimny will tow a lightweight caravan but don't expect rocket ship performance.

Thanks all for the replies.
That's very good of you
I'm chuffed that someone has used a Freedom Microlite, I have been looking at those as well as the beautiful Cockpit.
If I get sorted with a test I'll let you know.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationLooking at the Cockpit caravan it is indeed very nice but for me the price of around £7500 for such a small caravan is a bit offputting. Same with new Freedoms.
My Freedom only cost £800 on ebay but you have to search around a bit for a good one.
Depending on cost/size required the larger Freedom Jetstream has a higher unladen weight but is still 750 kg gross.
Apart from Eriba which tend to have a higher price due to demand other caravans you might consider would be the
