Hi All
I've noticed a few jimny's kicking around with a towcar and I miss my motorhome :-(
So I'm wondering if anyone (here in England) uses their Jimny to tow a (micro/small) Caravan?
I've had a look on a tow site and I seem to be finding that they can tow 975kg?
I have found some freedom caravans that look nice that weigh in considerably less than the 975 figure. www.freedomcaravans.com/sterckeman-starl...p-compact-i1279.html
What do you all think?

I wouldn't go any heavier than about 400kg, which would really limit you to tear-drop caravans. Mine is 375kg and that is a reasonable weight if you want to cruise around at 100kph all day long, which we have to do in Oz to get anywhere.

My own preference now is a small trailer with boat on top and good quality tent.

We spent this summer as campsite wardens and were amazed by a Jimny arriving with a full size caravan on the back

We do things the other way around..

Works well.

Mind you at another campsite we worked at a motorhome turned up a-framing a Jimny with no brakes setup. Owner believed the Jimny weighed less than 750kg :woohoo:

I'd say you can tow alot more then that

I looked in the hand book, and the recommended is 650kgs ( non braked trailer) and 750kg (braked)

with a cage trailer ive probably towed best part of a ton :s
and across a field a 14ft iforwilliams trailer with 3 ton of weight and its been fine

but on the road towing a ton isn't recomended lol

also it depends on " grandad rights"

if you have grandad rights you can drive any thing upto a 7.5 ton lorry

but as I've only been driving 4 years, I legal can only tow 750kgs before I need a trailer license ( B + E)
or do my hgv catagory C + E, C1 + E

Hmmmm Thanks all for the thoughts so far.
I really want something just a Tad bigger than a Teardrop as we have two dogs too.
What about the www.rlcaravans.co.uk/
the little cockpit caravan looks a tad bigger than the teardrop size but still looks light.
Or the www.freedomcaravans.com/freedom-microlite-bijoux-2012-i989.html
I passed my car test about 20yrs ago so I think my towing licence should be fine.
What do you recon to these?
