Not a stupid question,

Its to keep the belts the standard length and everything spinning at the correct speed (alternator/water pump wouldnt change but PAS and AC would run faster).

Also worth fitting a new one at the swap time as they are a known failure item.

This could even be an advantage having the PAS running faster if fitting larger tyres. Obvs, a different belt would be needed for the PAS/AC to standard (cant remember what now, but easy enough to measure).

The SSS and the Liana both have the same pulley. The inside belt is the same as for a Jimny, the outside has a larger pulley than the Jimny, thats the only difference.

Speaking of Liana... you could look for a donor engine there maybe? or even from an SX4. Its even possible to fit a M15 from an ignis sport ;-)

As long as it says M16 and you match VVT or non VVT to what you have already it will work and produce the same power ~ roughly 100bhp.

[Tip - VVT M series engines have a bulge on the crank pulley end for the VVT bit, non VVT doesnt have this bulge]

yes crank pulley, tensioner and oil filter stand are all best prices from Martin (and best service). About the only thing he doesn't regularly sell are oils/fluids.

Yes 1.6 injectors are best to use. You could use denso injectors for a mazda MX5, but it may over-fuel then. Liana inlet manifolds fit i think so worth getting if you find one. Also the earlier (2004) liana throttle body is larger diameter as well as plug-n-play fit ;-)

Or you could mess about with a Rav4 throttle body and make that work for even more air in

I have done all ready the same setup with the first post. Remap the ECU with M16 fuel plan and still have detonation after 4000rpm or hard push! Any suggested issues?

How have you remapped the ECU then? You are the first to say you have done that...

Which injectors are you using? A rich fuel plan will top out the standard 1.3's pretty quickly or at least run them at a very high duty cycle, but it sounds like you are too lean? I know the 1.8 with throttle bodies & twin injectors I run now in Ulysses puts a LOT more fuel in at higher RPMs, but thats because its aftermarket DTAfast S80 ECU running everything now (albeit in an M18).
