If that fails you could always drill a hole in it and use an extractor but that would mean a replacement plug of course

Don't forget the plugs are 10mm and although a 3/8" will fit you risk rounding the plug.

Like everyone suggested with a long bar
I no longer have the temmplate I made but it was easy enough.
I used silver foil wrapped around the edge off the diff where the bolts are to get the curve you need then used that to make a card template for the upright bit, and the plate on the bottom you can easily make using card. I used longer high tensile m8 stainless bolts to bolt it to the diff.its made out of 5mm steel plate recon i could hang off it easily, feels solid.theres earlier pictures of the cardboard model posted earlier for inspiration.
