Those landrover drivers always underestimate us my dad is the same in his defender.is always good to supprise them.

Ive never driven anything that severe looking but would give it a go with a spotter :)

im currently unprotected underneath so wont be doin stuff like that till I am which will hopefully change after my birthday.requested various guards :whistle:

painted my front axle today in prep for fitting the guard tomorrow hopefully.

I took your design and added a plate on the side to allow it to be bolted to the front arm for extra bracing. Rear end slightly lower for easier access to the bolts. Bit rough and ready but it's the first draft....



Also considering adding steel channel to another brace at passenger side to protect the entire axle. Might destroy ground clearance though so undecided plus I don't really know how much protection is required.

Question: Would 5mm steel be OK to use or better to go thinner with a bit more 'give'?

With the extra plate on the side there will be no flex.5mm steel is more than strong enough doubt itll bend easily.

Had to drain my diff today to check the fitment of my guard and cant get the filler plug undone. Is it a normal thread, lefty loosy righty tighty? :laugh: any tips?need to finish the job tomorrow as im laning sunday in east hertfordshire!

There are standard thread some people just do them up real tight I use a harf inch ratchet with a extension bar on it and if that fails I weld a nut on it and use an impact wrench then hay presto an bobs your uncle
