The carb on a SJ get most of its bad reputation from morden mechanics that do not know carbs or the likes of me that do not take the time to sit down and learn how it works.
We had a guy in the Norwegian suzuki club that did a great write up on it and it is much easier to deal with when you are in the know. (Not sure I would dare to translate it)

Some problems with it come from leaks and pulling air. The worst is when it is worn and pull air by the shaft for the throtle valve. Thick grease can help or an O-ring and thick grease.

Yesterday actually but service and preparation for temeraire for her mot next week. Only thing I found was a shim needed for the off side kingpin. Just needs cleaning so she's presentable for the tester, first impressions count.

Annoyingly temeraire failed the test. Needed a osr road spring, not sure how I missed that. Anyway it took longer to drive home an back to the test centre than it did to put a new spring in. All passed and good to go till next year.

It was a sema show 2 part Bluetooth special. Aka it snapped. Going by the deterioration of the two faces it's not been gone long certainly since I waxoyled it last autumn which is odd as its hasn't done any heavy work since last May. I'm assuming it must not have been tempered properly and snapped instead of sagging?
