Doing a bit of welding on my SJ today. Too long since I've done some now. Welding all the holes in the floor and making bigger wheel wells for 31 or 33 inch tires. Have replaced the sills but not done there either, but it's coming along. :)

The underside. Got it in a roller so it is easy access.

After bying this:


I decided to revive my old trailer project:

This got too heavy using SJ axle and springs and all. I fed most of it to a container and the parts storage, and now I am putting the old tub on top of the bought and registered trailers frame. Just had to make some good mounting points adding two frame rails to the trailers original frame.

First I did a test fit to see how much had to be done to the frame and mounts. Might have to get a bodylift.
Wheels is a issue I have not solved yet as i would like to have 235's or 30" or so..
Would need 4x100 wheels with ET-30 instead of ET30.. Might have to make them myself if i cannot find them.

So I finished the frame rails and sent it off to be galvanized.

Got the frame back from a local galvanizing company yesterday.
today I will continue to put it toghether and find out what else is needed like dampers and wires and serivce parts.

I think it will be quite practical as it has the hardtop as well.
Regret cutting the tub where i did ten years ago when i started this.
Now i have been thinking more like making it into a small camping trailer.
I need 30cm more length in the front so I have been thinking of cutting another SJ to use the front or the back to finish it up better than the aluminium sheet I got now. Or I might just add a simpler extension of some sort.
I can just about sleep in it diagonally now, but 20-30cm more would be nice..

I like this very much, and have been thinking along similar lines for a future project.

The larger wheels/tyres was also something I wanted to do. The best option I came up with was to use something like a wheel spacer to alter the PCD from 4x100 to suzuki, allowing use of Jimny wheels to match the car. I think the spacers would need to be custom machined, but thats not impossible :-)

J999 MNY, ULYSSES M18 VVT with ITB's Dyno tested at 130hp

Pickup/tipper, R7me gearbox & 6.4 Rocklobster, 31" Toyo MT, 2x ARB air locker 3.9 diffs in braced axles, 6" total lift, Floating rear conversion, Raptor painted, CB, Recaro's, Caged, etc, etc...

Spacers on ebay. As there is not enough room for both BCD on one spacer, it is two spacers bolted together. I could make this, but making custom wheels is easier for me.
Put some 4x100 15 inch steel wheels in a lathe. Machine off the weld beads so the center can be moved to a better position. Weld it back.
Also found out now that most likely I can change the drums on the trailer axle to 5x112 BCD.
But what if I machined my existing drums to 5x139,7?
Going to a wrecker to look for wheels within the next two weeks.

Oh the wheels are so utterly wrong ..
After the revolution, when I am in charge and have The Power, small wheels will not be allowed.

Next is to adjust the front plate a bit, paint it black, hook up the lights..
And the wheels. I think custom steel wheels is the best solution. Never liked spacers much. Hope I'll find some 15 inch wheels I can modify.

Coming along nicely. Lights done, all fully functional now. Brakes are weak. Will try to adjust them.

Next is to adjust the hardtop and seal all the leaks.


But now I had to get it out to make room for the Swift to fix a drive shaft.
