Not everybody can fabricate and weld to the required standard required on this item. Some say they can. Look at the chap who has already had a go at the repair!!

Seriously.. if you can weld just adequately, you can do it. I know what you mean. But even considering a new axle casing due to broken shock mount, makes me think perhaps an old Jimny is not the right vehicle then.
