I have a flat hair cookerpoo,  he's called Vimes, he's great. However when he is in the car he has to wear his harness and be clipped to an upper rear seatbelt mount for short journeys or for longer trips he has a cage that occupies two thirds of the back of the car. The cage is a pain to use as it eats so much space but it gives him room to move. His opinion on the harness is not for polite society, he manages to make me feel like the BORG every time I try to get it on him. So I was wondering about a cargo net behind the front seats that I could leave in place most of the time but is easy enough to remove if I need to through load something for work  but I can't find any info on if its considered suitable as a means of restraint?

I got cargo nets both in the trailer and the rear of the jimny luggage compartment to stop my mess from falling out. Maybe those can be installed behind the front seats?
Bought on ebay but you might find them at halfords or similar places. many different sizes available.

In the rear of my SJ I had straps up in the ceiling that attached to my dogs harness. he could move around in the rear and turn around in a swivel but tight enough to stop him from jumping forward.
He was a 70cm tall sheboxweiler, German Sheperd/Boxer/Rottweiler mix. Just as crazy as the mix sounded but we where young and dumb.
Golden retriever and bernese mountain dogs only after that mishap.
