we both agree the way forward with the front half would be make it out of flow plas pipe, just waiting for B&Q to open then were on the way

so we will be seeing more of you then to do the front half at a later date?
were going to have a induction day for you on the kettle and sweeping brush then

I couldn't get a job pushing a broom these days Doc.... As for the kettle, fully indentured apprenticeship passed many moons ago... If you could have the risk assessment, method statement and safety plan ready when I visit next week, I'll sign up
Plas-pipe indeed......
If you were going out to get the components.... that must mean you are planning on doing it next week.....

V5 amended to 2 seats including driver, no other changes, still 2 axle, rigid body..... checked with a mate who's a traffic copper and that's as much as they would be interested in. Still got test til the 12th of June but I called the testing station and whilst there is no legal need to test because of the Covid crisis, it's booked in.
Contact Adrian Flux insurance tomorrow and change the policy to the new caged truck cab, for the agreed £84 addition. I have added H/D steering bars too and I suppose I better mention L.E.D. tail lights.... best to have every modification noted. The local old bill have started pulling modified cars and 4x4's, just to check that their insurance has the modifications declared. Seen a few being recovered....
I am hoping that the guys in the workshop can get it ready for a drive by at Calow Hospital on Thursday evening for the last 8pm salute....
I'm part of the snow angels group that runs the staff to & from work in inclement weather if needed. They are having a drive by, honk, clap to thank the staff and wish all the best to the patients at the hospital.
If it's not ready, they have an 11' plate Jimny that I might be able borrow.... If that don't pan out, I do have a 4x4 back up but it's big, green and has John Deere written on the side of it.... Only problem is I can't reach the bottom step....

(Policy sorted jus an additional £68 with everything declared... chuffed)

Happy....
First impressions are odd.... It feels a bit lighter and even a bit taller (which it would be if it had lost weight), handles fine and sounds like an old escort 1300....People look at it, which is the biggest change I suppose.... No more Mr Grey...
The work is of a very high standard and I would recommend the workshop of Terry Lofley & Son to anybody wanting car bodywork services....

Thanks Jack..
No back box on as yet.... Think that's why it reminds me of an old escort, okay bumbling along but get the revs up and it's a bit too much lol... The Finance Fhurer has told me I can have a bespoke system built when I get the exhaust manifold modified... god bless her cotton socks..
Some induction bits are coming too, I want to try and get a little more air into the engine or there's not much point of doing the exhaust.....
70mm K&N cone filter, 70mm maf tube and a 70mm to 63mm silicone reducing elbow to get to the throttle body.
I'll fit them and leave the standard airbox and snorkel setup alongside it, one jubilee clip, move the maf sensor back and then it's ready to wade... or that's the plan anyway.....

car.info list the gross vehicle weight at 1365 - 1420 kg, I presume the variance to be differing trim levels....
"stumpy" has just weighed in at 1120kg with a full tank and 30kg of steel on the passenger seat, so we'll say 1100kg.....
Very pleased with that weight, got a little more weight to add with the front cage but no more than 15-20kg.
Now the hard work begins......I am aiming to try and get to below 1000kg fully fuelled and ready for a trip out.
Seats, glass, electric window mechanism's, tyres (love the KO2's but they are heavy...) are the next things to be addressed.....
I thought the car was lighter, it felt so different when I got back behind the wheel. I put it down to driving the wife's Polo GTI over the last two months but I think that my first impressions were correct. Lighter and thereby a little taller too....
The exhaust back box was just removed and the pipe cut, just past the axle. It sounds great but I'm a good neighbour so I'm getting a full system built on Thursday (the wife not liking the noise helped with the decision lol).
I bought a Suzuki Swift 4-2-1 manifold and I am having it modified to suit the RWD layout on the Jimny....
The system will be 2" with a 200cpa sports cat and two silencers (somehow), hopefully big enough to cope with any future engine upgrades and a bit quieter than a back box delete.
Loosing the back box has proved something I have suspected since purchase, these cars are strangled by the exhausts. With nothing else done to the engine, it will now pull cleanly from 20mph in 4th gear.... and trundle along quite happy at 30mph in 5th gear. Very different....
