The plan has worked..... There is a lot more torque and you get it lower down Even managed to spin the wheels up on the change from 1st to 2nd (in the wet and by accident...it's changed) A little disconcerting really, I had gotten used to how much throttle to use in the wet and it looks like I will have to learn again.... queue brown pants.....
Only a motorway drive home and it is much more responsive and eager to accelerate than before.
There was a negative that cost me a couple of hours, lambda 1 failed even though it came out easily. Quite common and only a £36 part. Swapped and codes cleared, they took it for a test drive and all was great. When I restarted the car to leave the EML light was on.... the second one had gone too but not shown on the first read..... As the second sensor doesn't affect fuelling like the first, I decided to change it myself at home, rather than hang around while parts were delivered again...

A bit over the top but it will cope with 200hp so I think I'll be ok if I make it to a 1600 lol...

The hole at the bottom of second gear is still there but it is not so deep and the engine now climbs out with less struggle.
I have decided to change the gearing with an R7ME gearbox and manual transfer box from the pre VVT M13A..... The change will allow me to run 29" tyres, so I'll be looking for some new muds...
I did buy an SJ. "mini-lobster" transfer box which drops both high and low ranges by 30% but didn't consider the price of the fitting kit.... a bit beyond me at the moment so I will have to move it on.

Yes, I see where you mean, I'm waiting to see if there is any issue.... but having seen vents on James's turbo car, they look good and would solve the problem... I think...
I don't want to cover it up to be honest, it's the only thing that looks remotely sporty on the car....

Mobil One, Bosch oil filter, Bosch Iridium plugs, Magnecor KV85 ignition leads, Denso Lambda 2 replacement, new locking wheel nuts.
Everything else is less than a couple of years old, hopefully it won't need anything..... famous last words
