Is that part of a nuclear reactor, that level of preparation is quite astounding compared to some of the other cages I have seen being built. Straight through inspection no worries!

It will look like it deserves nuclear power :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Maybe a 1600 in the near future, if I can sway favour with the finance fhurer....

The only concerns over inspection are based more on the design (my problem) than the quality of the work. Blue book dictates a few must haves but you do have quite a lot of room to design within the guidelines.... Watch me get it wrong now.....

Most of the cage work complete. Mounting lights, number plate and wheel arches as we speak.....







You can just see the cross chassis bar and the two bars either side of the spare wheel, which have been added today. It looks like the back end of a quad bike......

Very happy with how it is progressing......

Nearing the final layout.....



A useable load bed, it will carry a 30ltr screw top drum with all the recovery junk in it, when out on lanes or trialing. Somewhere to rest a drink and a bag of chips when I'm being sociable. Might fix some cargo net across the whole bed.

Reece is a very handy lad, never having fitted a cage and turning work of this standard out, quite a craftsman. I think the arches will test him, one of those things that you need to almost hold in position and cut at the same time....

You don't need rear arches........leave it exposed :evil:
Then at least you can pay me back from all the times following mine :whistle:
On the plus side nobody ever tail gates my jimny.......and if they try i just move off line :angry:

hi guys
to be fair, me and reece said the same regards leaving the arches exposed as the top and front are closed in by nature of the cage.
perhaps a longish, hanging mud flap from the rear of the cage would look good when the chassis has been shortened??? if that makes sense,
and leaves room for bigger tyres later.
but we work to the customers choice at the end of the day
room for thought sniper???

I quite like the look of the exposed wheels, they will chuck water everywhere though, as you say....

How would we protect the back of the cab ?

Does the tray cover the tread ?

The look or style of the exposed wheel is ok with me but I would like to trim an arch roughly and render it up, just to be sure.....

Cracking work from you guys again...

Like Doc says you could have some sort of rallye flaps
Make them quick release.....fit them with a long pin
Like pulling the pin out of a door hinge.one part stays with body other with the flap
