Not sure how "soon" the actual blog will appear though Lambert... that's down to Mr. Johnson and Mr. Drafeford ... as to when we're let out to wander around our favourite 'lanes..

I spent today working on the front lights...

 

Finished off the engine battery's isolator switch, and added a new fused wire that runs with the engine battery cable over to the other side of the engine, where...

 

I made an aluminum bracket to hold the two relays that control the front JCB headlights, and an "aircraft" toggle switch with a cover which is uaually "on" so that the LED lightbar comes on with main beam, switching this switch "off" though makes it MOT compliant

 

And then finished the wiring neatly up to the lightbar...

More wiring! These are the wiper motor wires I caught with the angle grinder when cutting the inner wings off

And that's the end of the snorkel tube on the passenger side... note the holes in the plated tube...

 

Yes, there's four of them! And a bit of a design flaw in this... getting the nuts on the bolts! Inside the tube, and bast a 45 degree angle bend!

 

Got there - in the end - though, double jointed fingers, various spanners and sockets, and a good blob of Blu-Tac!

 

And finally the convoluted tube can be attached with a nice big jubillee clip...

 

And that then runs across the engne bay...

 

Over the brake fluid reservoir*, behind the fuse box, and the new headlight control relays, and all the winch / battery cable joint blocks, and then snakes under the meet the relocated airbox... Note the band around the convuled tube to stop it rubbing on the relay / switch aluminium bracket

*ahh, I need to get to that yet!

 

There's the hose seen through the Keithy bonnet vents

So I ended the day chuffed... the wiring is finished, I also did the passenger side repeater on the bonnet edge, got the wipers working - eventually! after a new fuse was fitted , the windscreen squirters wired and plumbed in and neatly attached to the underside of the bonnet... 

And then, I went to switch the battery isolator to "off", and noticed the ignition lights were still on the dashboard? After some invesitgating I found the handle had unwound it's nyloc securing nut, and there's no way to fix it as the threaded pin is sprung downwards, so it's impossible to get the washer and nyloc nut back on?! So I've messaged the seller on eBay to say I'm not happy! :devil: But the back two switches have always been fine? Might just be a fluke, a duff switch, but it looks like it is good pratice to always switch the off or on by rotating the T-handle clockwise so that the nut can not loosen?...

 

So that's the wiring done! What's next / left to do then?...

The front brakes need re-plumbing... the driver's side will be fine as that's the short hose as the brake pipe / line runs straight to the mount just forward of the spring's top mount on the chassis... The other side is the longer hose that usually connects inside the upper wing, half way down, so I've ordered another driver's side one of Lllama 4x4 so that the passenger side can be the same as the driver's side... I just need to bend and re-toute the original brake pipe / line along the chassis rail to meet the mount just forward of the spring's top mount again...

Then, the door cards need making and the handles need relocating...

And then........ I think it'll be ready for the MOT!

 

Rivnuts would have worked wonders on that bend!

Indeed! Told you it was a design flaw!
