thought some may find this interesting ... :huh:
since getting the truck over 5 years ago and fitting ATs, back box etc, the best fuel consumption I could achieve was 28 mpg
however, the last several months have been really bad, returning only 26 mpg
now with the shorter belt totally bypassing the aircon compressor/pump, I'm getting nearly 31 mpg :woohoo:
maybe a coincidence but I don't believe in such things :lol:

The simple solution was to use a shorter belt for the power steering, the one for non-a/c trucks -
"part number 4PK850 micro-V multi-ribbed belf"
this bypasses the aircon compressor
it's a nice cheap fix as it doesn't foul and the busted AC pump can stay where it is,

I was thinking the same thing it must sap power especially if its no longer turning freely like mine which had practically seized solid.

got an old carpenters tool box off gumtree a while back for £5 so thought I'd try it out in the back of the jimny to see if the bitch can live with it :laugh:
