Measured from top of wheel arch to road (tyres inflated on level ground)
could really feel the the improvement and now it just feels as it should
not sure why it's needed as springs sitting correctly and still new

It's seems a bit strange that it was leaning but I'm glad it was an easy fix

A steering damper fitted ........
For a few years now I'd been thinking of getting a steering damper, but the general populace conveyed the opinion that there wasn't much to be gained in fitting a steering damper to a mainly road based Jimny, hence, it kept slipping back on my to-do-list as the Bank of Jimny isn't a bottomless pit
So I've finally taken the plunge and ordered a chassis mounted kit from Jimnybits
I was well impressed with the solid quality of the fitting kit and after a visit by "Gaz in his reasonably priced Rover" (his Jimny is up for sale ) .... on went the damper
:woohoo:
It has transformed the ON-ROAD stability and ride of the Jimny
The steering slackness / lightness / vagueness has gone, don't get me wrong it doesn't make steering hard work, it now feels like a normal cars' steering does, corners are smooth and controlled, straight lines are straight, road surfaces are softer, no more pothole or uneven surface crashy-ness - you really do have to try one to comprehend the difference - and it's not masking any faults on my truck as it's pretty well sorted.
So am I impressed - hell yeah - if you've been sitting on the fence wondering whether to get a steering damper - do it it's well worth it.

Excellent addition Halford. As you say it does remove the vagueness and it just calms it down on bad road surfaces.
I bet your jimny feels amazing to drive on the road with wider wheels, firmer suspension and the damper.

Just from the local motor factors, complete with a fitting kit, new bolts and crush joints.
Had to use the old crush joints (roughed them up) as the new ones were slightly bigger, may have fit with a bit of work.
The old hot exhaust was popped off and into a vice so the lamba sensor nut slackened easier
Needed a flame on the hanger for it to bend and fit properly,
£120 fitted (£80 - £90 parts) maybe slightly cheaper on tinterBay, but need to get right one and decent quality
Easy job but well worth £30 to have a big lad do it on a ramp with heat to hand, thanks Gaz
