Yes sadly, but its for the best at the moment. Even if it was open I doubt I would be allowed to drive up there, being in the 'fit and well but possibly a carrier' group of society.

Not strictly about Ulysses, but relevant.
I have a small utility/camping trailer thats pretty handy, if a little small. A while ago I was towing it and someone commented 'that trailer needs a lift kit', which was true. It was sat a such a daft angle on the back of the grey one that the tail lights were scraping the ground a bit sometimes.
Having made my own towbar for ulysses (as its so different to a normal jimny) I thought I would try it out to see how daft it looks...
towbar:
Daft:
Not as bad of an angle as the grey jimny but still wrong. I had looked at a drop plate thing for the towball, which would be easy but reduce departure angle a lot. Went for lifting and huge tyres (as is my way!).
I cut some old front stub mounts back to have a flat back and welded them to a 6mm plate and a short section of 3mm box steel. Took the old wheels off and cut back the stub axle the trailer had. Slid my new box section over and welded onto the trailer axle. So now it takes the same standard Jimny front wheel bearings as all the other wheels on my wagon![:-) :-)](/media/kunena/emoticons/9.png)
So on with some jimny front bearing carriers and hubs to cover it all up neatly:
Obviously its not finished yet. Wheel arches and probably a paint in black raptor are on the cards. Sitting at the correct height now at least
