I did read a few years ago that Landrover had been given an exemption for a few years to continue producing it and that exemption had now run out.
The reason was that it could no longer comply with the latest crash/pedestrian safety regulations therefore that is why it has now ceased. Something else to blame the EU for
It stands to reason therefore that the Jimny is now falling in to the same category.
It's no accident that a lot of cars now look the same as due to regulations all the manufacturers are finding the ideal shape to fend off pedestrians with the least injury combined with the crushability in the case of a heavy impact.
I expect you will see a gradual shift to the likes of Toyota 4x4's as the Jimny dies away or people hanging on to old landrovers

The Shogun is finally going too this year, and there are no solid plans to replace it. Indeed, Mitsy are in dire poo and may not survive as a company. Those wanting a separate chassis, low range, solid or live axles, in a new vehicle are going to be left with pick up trucks at this rate. Having said that, there are very few people now requiring that hence manufacturers pulling out of the rugged, square jawed utilitarian market.
