Lada Nivas are great fun, although also independent front suspension. Rest of their chassis etc fits the bill though.
Lots of enthusiasts out there modding their vehicles, similar to the Jimny. They even "lobsterize" their transfer boxes.
I'm looking at eventually getting a lobsterized Niva t-box for my Jimny, not a complicated job, hardest thing is fabbing new mounts. Advantage of it is that it'll give permanent 4wd without the transmission wind-up the Jimny suffers from, as it contains a centre diff.
