Seems the rear nearside shock skid guard has had a good fight with a rock... and lost!

Did it's job and protected a £90 shock from damage though!

Best order a new one... that will take some straightening! LOL :woohoo:

Jimnybits skid guard ?

Yes Tom, JimnyBits... ordered a new pair already, been on for ages but now that one's definitely dead ;)

Think it must have been the rocks at Bala4x4 -

I'm considering a pair of these skid guards myself. But I want them modified a bit, so they also bolt to the shock mount itself. I'm thinking should be possible to bolt them to the front end of the mount.

I've just ordered a replacement pair from JimnyBits, but Rus has said they should be redesigning them "soon"...

I think they should be folded and welded so that they are shaped like they grey lines added here -

They're in the garage awaiting fitment...

Trouble is we're 'laning 18/10 , 1/11, 15/11, 6/12 ... so that doesn't give me much time inbetween the get the jigsaw and anglegrinder out...!

I might make a start after this Sunday's 'laning trip...

But then I'm itching to get back to the buggy too... :S

But they still attach with one bolt. So hitting a rock, tree stump or such they'll bent.

Which is why I'm also looking into making a completely new shock mount which mounts to both sides of the shock, like on the front.

Something like this:

Started cutting the wheel arches back today, partly as they needed replacing after some nasty scrapes in the Lake District at the weekend, and partly to get the new wheels and tyres on... that have been sitting waiting in the garage for a couple of months! -

Hoping to get it all back together and wheels and tyres on this Sunday, weather permitting...

Dave ;)

I was getting a very slight occasional rub on the front with the 235s on, but not much as I'm running a 4" suspension lift...

Thought I might as well go whole hog though ;)
