Well I bit the bullet and brought a Jimny on Sunday, really pleased with it, it's a little on the tatty side externally but mechanically it seems sound and the interior is in great shape, the private plate was even included in the sale.

It is a W reg 2000 model and has 111000 miles on the clock but full service history and a load of receipts for work completed recently including head gasket, and cam belt only 2k ago. It drives like a dream. So much so that I decided to give it a bit of a shake down and do the round trip to work of about 80miles in it tonight. Well I am in the office now and hopefully all will be fine on the drive home.

The outside needs some bodywork however I can’t decide if I will bother with it or not, it will be used for green laning and the odd pay and play so I may leave it as is, the dent you can see in the picture, is as bad as it looks and I will at lease apply a better coat of paint to stop any rust setting in.

Plans at the moment are to run it for a bit and decide where to go with it, nothing major I keep telling myself (I have said that before) so let’s see how it goes.

I promised my son I would take him out to a few lanes when he finished school today so it will be seeing some mud very soon :woohoo:

I popped down there today Mark but they were pretty busy, I am hoping you can get to it from the inside and push it out a bit, does anyone know if there is a second internal skin around this area, I would think there is :(

I managed get home ok from work and I have nothing to really pick with it except that it seems to use more fuel than I expected, there is an exhaust leak from where the manifold clamps to the rest of the pipe so I am wondering if this is interfering with the Lamba reading and over fueling, I will get it on some diagnostics software in the next couple of days and take a look.

I did however manage to get a few lanes in when I woke up this afternoon, a couple of snaps below.

I can’t decide if I like the nudge bar or not, I will have to go for sure if I decide to add a winch so may put this up for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Cheers Mark

Well that makes sense really I did about 100 miles in it and it used about half a tank of fuel so about right, just surprised me a little, I suspose with it being a little under powered I did have my foot down fairly hard on some of the uphill streached of the M25.

Nice jimjam. Tastefully modded.

Chuckled when u mentioned fuel economy, its bit disapointing for a 1.3. But like peeps have said, those tires will be draggin quite a bit, plus its about as areo dynamic as your house!

Get some road wheels/tires if you plan on doin alot of road miles. Im going to get some for next summer.

Sponnie, your right about the aerodynamics and tires,

I don’t plan of doing too many road miles in it, I have my daily hack for that so I may just leave these on there as changing them around all the time may be a bit of a pain. If a set come up at a bargain price I will always grab them as in the summer I could probably get away with all terrains if doing some light laning.

When I drive mine on the motorway the needle on the petrol guage goes down at about the same speed as the rev counter goes up

Very nice looking Jimny though. I work in Tonbridge so I'll also keep an eye out

Looks like you bought quite a capable Jimny! Fuel consumption is something I dare not think about! I think we may aswell have a v8! If only having half a v8 meant half the fuel consumption! It is because we have to use wide open throttle alot. Never mind, at least it's not a Landrover!
