w reg 2000 i welded both sides cos i needed a quick fix before i could do my boot build plus i only had a small bit of metal left also just makes it look better it my preferance then did the underside just to stop water sitting under there and looked under mine today after seeing your car and apart from the boot is all ok

Mine looked okay too, til I removed the fuel tank. Just looked like small insignificant scabs from inside the car. Ended up with this:

are you welding inside or out or cutting plates to fit holes

Think i will weld inside cos its easier from above also cutting sheets to cover holes. The three squares together will cover with one sheet. Im not brilliant welding upside down tbh :)

Then i may paint rust converter underneath then smear joint underneath with sikaflex followed by some underseal/epoxy mastic.

Shouldnt come back then :)

Anyone noticed that the rust in-front of the seat belt mounts is caused by a lump welded to the underside of the floor?

I'm hoping to get my underseal started this weekend
