Once the wiper arms are off and bodge pegs are removed from the front, it wrenches off, held by some expanding pegs.

Oil the hinges while you are under there.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Its a bit of a basta*rd to get to for a repair though. Say 'heater matrix' to our workshop foreman and he goes white!

Is heater matrix such a scary thing? Hahaha..

I dry up the mess a bit and went for some drive thru puddles of water and under heavy rain.. All seems good inside..no sign of leak or water.. Weird!

So far still dry.. That is the worrying part because it is simpler if i find out the leak and solve it but now..it seems to come and go..

By the way..how do u guys clean up the whole car interior and exterior after playing in the water and mud? Power wash undercarriage seems to be easiest way but wouldnt water get into places u dun wan them to?

Welcome to Bigjimny.
I powerwash my jimny all over after playing in the mud. If doing the engine bay then I keep the engine running.
With the interior I let the mud dry then just vac it all.

In the driver & passenger footwells under the carpet as well as in the back there are holes in the floor. These are normally plugged with rubber bungs. Is it possible the bungs are missing and the water came up through them as you drove through the water?

I've taken mine out and removed the carpet. You can then jet wash inside and the muddy water just drains out. However, if you drive through water, it shoots up through the holes like a fountain! It was quite surprising and alarming the first time!

I think the front wheels throw water up directly at the holes at the ideal angle for it to land in your lap!
