This shows the two blobs of weld on the races, as you can see they were dry and pitted with rust too.

Packed some grease into the near-side king-pin bearings today, they looked to be dry, and there was no sealant
to stop water ingress. My off-side was replaced the other day and the top surfaces of the pins were well rusted and crusty, but the near-side were not they looked new so I guess they were replaced last year along with the bearings, maybe it had failed the mot before I bought it. My surprise was 1. very little evidence of grease on withdrawing the pins both top and bottom and 2. no sealant evident. I packed some grease in and sealed them with 300 degree temp silicon.
Gave the brake a clean and copper grease were I should to keep things moving.

Fitted a 2wd low switch B)





Switches are expensive! In The Olden Days, they were a few coppers, now they are 20 times more expensive.

Thanks Facade, I was thinking about this a couple of week ago but couldn't find the link,

Yeah but you couldn't get what you wanted in the olden days. I used to trawl the electronic stores for hours to find waht I needed. Now they are on eBay for peanuts. :whistle:

The ones I ordered from China for what I expected to pay (50p each) haven't come yet, and I wanted one now.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

These days when I order things like wood to metal dowels (my latest is centre drills and neodymium magnets) especially from China or Australia I try to order twice as much as I need to build up an instant spares supply.

I put one of my boxes of recovery stuff in the back. :)
Started to think space maybe a problem. How easy is it to remove the
rear seats?

I changed the engine oil and put a snorkel on my Jimmy, looks and sounds mint haha B) I haven't had my jeep for about 2 months as it was getting a few things done to it, not much though, most of that time was jus waiting for parts to come but over the course of 2 months I have burst the bank balance :whistle: for few bits for the Jimmy such as a front diff guard, DIY breather pipes for everything, castor correction arms, rocklobster box, cradle, bucket seats n will need to make up some diy recovery points for the rear as both my rear standard ones have been ripped off or on its last legs haha. Will getting 31" malatesta kobras when the lobster box goes on, can't wait till I get the jimjim back, will be good to have my jeep running the way it should be haha :cheer:
