There were three points I discovered, which might be helpful to others doing this on a 2009 model.
There's no need to remove the four bolts holding the disc backplate, as these are prone to be rusted a did round one off and had to cut the head off, but as I say it wasn't required, so wasted some effort there (unless I'm missing something) Also the seal for the drive shaft I tried all tools to get it out, It a tight space and slippery too, finally a pair of pump grips just nipped it and it pop out in a second (I used to call them footprints). One other thing on the end of the drive shaft there is a m8 threaded hole I used this to screw in a temporary bolt then pulling on it, brought the shaft to the right position to clip in the circlip.

Hi there wombat,,,No, I didn't disconnect abs.. I followed the how to on this site, I've listed my three observations, which could help you, bearing in mind yours maybe slightly different, mine's a 2009 mod.. It has abs but I didn't do any thing in that area, drove it for about 20 miles today on tarmac and lanes all seems ok and no leaks from the seals.

Yes, hellijohn i made a seat using the wheel and three inches of foam rubber and an old bit of carpet made it comfortable enough, but the old 62 yo back moaned a bit though. I think if I did it again maybe 6.45 hours HaHa. Good idea it use waterproof grease though Jim, hadn't thought of that..

As long as there's grease they'll be fine and I think no grease is truly waterproof maybe just more heavy duty. Next time you check your king pins for wear top it up with Lucas heavy duty grease or the stuff in the big jimny shop.
