be careful about how you address the relative reduction of total weight. It's ok removing the added weight of the bumper but the bumper is still a considerable amount of weight out in front of the front axle. If you take more weight away further back it will only increase the effect of the weight at the front. It's not too much of a problem but it will make the car understeer more and tend to be harder to turn into a corner..i would really see if you could add a little more weight to the back to try and get the balance back and make it more neutral. A Jimny is light enough at the back to start with.

Thank you, that is some solid advise.

I was thinking about making a rear bumper as well, maybe I should make a more beefier design which is also about 28kg’s to get the balance just right.

Also I forgot to mention the front mounting plate, I did not weigh it before welding it on the frame, but it’s about 3-5kg’s.

That will help. And then take measures to reduce the total weight from between the axles. This is of course not as simple as it sounds especially as you're eventually going to be looking for 60 ish kilograms but it depends on what you are doing with your Jimny. If you don't need the rear seats there is a decent weight saving and if you want to get serious then glass fiber front seats, no carpets or interior plastic trim etc etc. It's something that I obsess over is the correlation of necessary weight in the form of guards and under body armour vs unnecessary weight. Weight is one of the reasons I don't have big knobbly tyres and weight distribution is one of the reasons I don't want a suspension lift.

That is good advise... I have added loads of weight up front and the back has been stripped in comparison. Best excuse to wack on a back metal bumper if you ask me! Even it out a bit.

Finished The front bumper with bedliner and mounted It back on today.

I’m very pleased with how it came out.

I’ve found some new 215/75/R15 BFG MT’s online today for a very happy price, so I think I will pick them up this week.
