KAP Suzuki Jimny - rebuilt for the road

Fitted a LED light bar today, I was a bit stumped by the negative switching - I had never come across this before, but a troll of the internet revealed a wiring diagram to suit



I have also tidied up the interior

I went laning on Tuesday, another 150 mile day, but was lucky to get home. The drives side front wheel had collapsed and the passenger side wasn't far behind! I limped the last 2 miles and was relived to turn into the driveway! The drivers side had about 1" play at the top of tyre. I have ordered new bearings and the bearing removal tool after reading the very help write up on here.

Whilst I am waiting for the bearing bits, I am taking on another small job - an engine swap! I have managed to source a 1.6 Vitara engine and conversion plate that has been in a Jimny already. So I'm putting this in this week. Tonight I managed to drain the fluids and get some of the ancillaries off, I'll hopefully get a few hours on it tomorrow. No pics yet.

Today, I managed a few more jobs. I got the inlet manifold off which massively opens up access and got the engine wiring loom out of the way. I managed to borrow an engine crane for a week, so that's a relief. Tomorrow hopefully I can get the starter off (access is good now), bottom clutch plate and exhaust and then lift the bugger out! Before I refit the engine I have about a day of changing things, clutch, water pump, new cam belt and a myriad of other jobs. I'll also look in the engine bay and do some rust proofing and maybe change out front brake pipes whilst access is good.

Hopefully get a few pics as well

I prefer to do a list, so you can score stuff off as you go along, if not you don't feel like you are making any progress. I am really glad I didn't buy a donor car with an engine in, as it would have been twice the work and then have to get rid of the donor cars shell. At least this way the new engine (bought from James P) was already out, I have just to swap some bits across then throw it back in!
