Ok it was time to change the kingpins so it was off down to Martins (BIG JIMNY SHOP) to pick up two new sets of king pins bearings+oil seals + waterproof grease + copper silicone sealant.
This was my first time at replacing the king pins, so I down loaded the (how to? guide) from this forum and printed it off, then I just got on with doing the job.
I even removed the bolts on the backing plate, so I could copper grease the bolts as you need to remove them if your are replace the wheel bearings at a later date (you can do the job with out removing the bolts and leave the back plate in place .)
I've only replaced the driver's side at the moment as that side was leaking oil and the weather was so bad, rain and snow.
The top bearing was OK but the lower one was a right mess some of the top of the bearing was missing so the bearing started to disintegrate, here are some photos to look at,so if yours are leaking oil this is the time to replace them.

The job takes about 2 hour and that was my first go at doing the kingpins, so if you have a go just take your time.

Bracket cost £35.99 inc vat and pp.www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/recovery/farm-j...racket/prod_572.html
Just some photos of it fitted.

Decided not to use the wheel spacer studs to fix the bracket, I just drilled two 6mm holes and bolted it to the spare wheel bracket,

That is so awesome!
Looking great DirtyDogz!

just fabricated a roof bar for my soft top to add a few lights, just wondering before i fit how do you find it with noise? I had a roof rack on a van that was a nightmare before i fitted airfoil, so I have knocked one of them up as well, but still interested in the noise issue ?

Welcome to BIG JIMNY Neil.
I didn't notice any more noise after the roof bar was fitted,as you already know the soft top is not the quietest car to drive on the road. :S

1)The best soft top sealer + reviver is AUTO GLYN bumper & trim gel, I've used this on my soft top for 4 years and its great, and yes I have tried them all and so has my rubbish bin. ;)

2) If the popers on your soft top get hard to undo with age, just use a little grease on the popers.

Today I fitted the new clutch which has been under my bed for last 3 years, so as the sun was shining B) I thought it's was about time to stop being lazy, :S and stop putting up with a slipping clutch, when you live in a town like HIGH WYCOMBE which is all hill in and out-of-town its a no brainer. :pinch:
It's not that bad a job to do, the only hard bit of the job for me is fitting the starter motor, I hate that part.
Next job is a new gearbox mounting, had to use cable ties to hold it in place.
I'm starting find these jobs are get a little bit harder now I'm 61 years old.

If you need a new clutch kit for your JIMNY SOFT TOP the blue print part number is ADK 83024.or get the EXEDY clutch kit from the BIG JIMNY ONLINE SHOP B)
Goodbye for now.

Ok so its was time to replace the gearbox oil with castrol ep80-90 gl-4,as with alot of jimny the bottom gearbox plug was locked tight  , but the top one was ok :) ,so it was down to pumping it out with my £9.99 syphon pump of ebay then fill it back up with the oil suction pump from screwfix.
