Hi there..
Been lurking on here for about a month or so now and looking to get my first Jimny, iv been looking at getting one thats got engine problems or MOT failier as i can do all the work myself and the inital cost is less :P , Definatly needs to be a hard top as a rag top would get torn to shredds in the lanes (trust me i had a Paj J-top which was mostly gaffa tape after a few outings ;) )
Anyway my names Stewart and im from Torpoint, i work as a welder/fabricator in devonport dockyard and am also a member of the Gnarly laners
Thankyou peeps :)

Well my old Sj had a full exo cage, front winch, all underbody protection, beadlock kit welded to the standard wheels ;) plus do a few things for other people..
Planning on making all my own rose jointed radius arms and a few other bits and peices :P

Ended up pick-uping my paj as the roof was to far gone in the end

Welcome

You do NOT want one with engine problems. Engine parts are expensive, and good engines very hard to get for the single cam.

Get one with a bit of rust if you want to save money and get the welder out ;)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

My idea behind getting one with engine trouble was to pull the lump out and throw a VAG 1.9tdi in there or a deisel of some sort.. :P I have a habbit of finding deep water during punch hunts and a oil burner would be more suited B) altho the SJ never sufferd

ive a jimny and a audi 1.9tdi and ive always thought the jimny with that engine would be perfect, apparently they dont like water the 1.9 tdis ( ive had the common water in the ecu compartment problem ) i think i have read on here before but i dont know. i dont know if the rest of the components would be able to take the torque but i hope someone dose this conversion and proves me wrong.i get 50+ mpg all the time in the audi and it pulls like a TRAIN ( and that's me going from a 2.5 v6 gsi msd vectra remapped, k&n and full exhaust.)
