Good point. The problem is that I'm not sure where else I can put the jack.
Realistically I won't have a passenger very often. If I go out with others they generally have their own vehicles.

That's why i suggested standing it securely against the passenger B pillar, then you just release the passenger seat and its there. It comes from having an acceptance of a Jimny being a relatively slow vehicle compared with most everything else and having been rammed by another road user not paying attention. Its why I always carry heavy things like fencing mallets and crowbars either diagonally or transversely in the back if not outside on the roof or a trailer. It's bloody scary when someone hits your car when you're sharing it with heavy tools no matter how they are secured.

I had quick play with the jack, looking for better mounting positions. There aren't any convenient places to attach mounts to the B pillar. Behind the front seats is a possibility. I need to move the driver's seat further back and while I have it out I'll have more room to experiment.
This is another possibility. Of course it would have fit better if I hadn't just lopped a chunk off the end...

I spent a messy day striping the wheels for repainting. Here they are just after opening up my curing oven AKA a few sheets of Celotex and a fan heater. I painted them them on Thursday and fitted the tyres on Friday so I needed the paint to cure quickly. 5 hours at about 40C did the trick.

Got enough wheel weights???

I acquired a "monkey on a stick" jack from a VW for use in my SJ. A plywood base and a longer shaft completed the transformation. It was a lot easier to stow and did the job.
