After a TEN month leave of absence due to major reconstructive surgery on my right foot... I'm back
Had a good day in the garage, mostly sat on a stool... refurbishing radius arms...
Before and after!
I've drilled the axle end rubber bushes too, something I found Simon from E-Eng had done on a Jimny based buggy, during many gours (months!) of keeping myself sane in a hospital bed!
Four done! (Running two front axles to give four wheel steer, keep the buggy small, and disk brakes all round, with fiddle brakes on the rear)...
Mock-up time to remind myself where I'm heading, and to inspire me on...
You get the idea? The seat needs to be further back though, for weight distribution and leg room...
The big buugy out in the October sunshine...
More soon... the idea is to next paint and rebuild the two front axles and then start on the chassis (tube frame)...

Ever since my missus got her way and we had a down stairs shower room fitted in the back of the garage, it's only big enough to get my motor bike in, but I reckon one of those would just fit.
Will we be seeing it at the meet up next year?

Umm, no, possibly 2024..? It's one of those "No rush, tinkering when I have time" projectsEver since my missus got her way and we had a down stairs shower room fitted in the back of the garage, it's only big enough to get my motor bike in, but I reckon one of those would just fit.

That's the idea! Think cheap UK sized US-rockcraler... but "home engineered" -Wow, that does look small, basically a 4wd engine with a seat

Bit more today... slightly inspired by John Cooney's photos of Terry Lofley's current Jimny rebuild...
I wire-brushed the diff and hubs and then painted the lot -
Axle casing, diff, hubs and kingpins all treated to two coats of black Smoothrite...
And then the radius arms too!
I've got everything ready to rebuild the arrowed axle on Sunday now...
And have been starting to collect the parts for the same on the front axle next (although they're both front axles! )
I've just ought a pair of TG 26 spline shafts off Jezz that were advertised on this wonderful discussion board (must make a donation for that too ) and I've written a big list of rebuild parts I need for the front axle...
