Bit of a brown trouser moment on the roundabout there then
You will need the 4L for the lakes trip. Some steep stuff there. The LSD should be excellent as well
You might be better off using the 4x4 more than you think off the tarmac. Overall wear and load are more even meaning less breakages and I find it makes the steering smoother on bumpy stuff as a side bonus.
The willwoods look the part Standard jimny brakes are pants, but they sound pricey. Is it a jimny specific kit?

Yes Riccy, jimny specific and works with std 15" wheels, not just pricey but outrageous. I'll just keep sticking fivers in the jar..........
I'll let you know about the box on Thursday, hopefully a service and reset will sort it, I'm pretty confident after reading some bumpf that Mr Lines kindly provided. If I read it right, I'm a confused jimny owner in need of a rest.......
If it all goes to rats, I'll navvy for jack.......

Well sticky callipers have pushed the brakes in to an emergency job with no time to save for Gucci parts. I've made the best compromise I can with the money available... this lot will be arriving in the next few days.
New Aisin callipers
Kinetix drilled and grooved solid discs
Greenstuff pads
Braided brake lines
Lets hope this sorts it, I'm pretty sure it will.
I think the sticky callipers may have been responsible for a recent broadside moment on a fast A-road. I thought it may have been my heavy foot and the new diff, conspiring to kill me. As the sticky callipers worsened following a rebuild, the back end has gotten light on a few occasions in the damp at low speeds. Braking with any steering input is bad but in the wet, it's an invitation to rally driving.

Save having plain ebc discs that is essentially what I have. It stops very well.

These were fitted and have resolved the braking issues, it was long overdue.
Improved braking and so far....... no fade. The greenstuff pads took a while to bed and they can be a little lazy when cold.
Whilst the upgraded parts have improved braking efficiency, the biggest improvement has been the new callipers sliding correctly and just doing their normal job properly.
This is my new nemesis, got up to see oil running under the car. My local garage got it up in the air for me and the sump is porous, I was surprised has fast it was issuing. A new one was ordered from Bigjimny.
Getting the garage to fit it when the parts turn up, 3000 miles on the last Mobil 1 oil change....... New Suzuki filter and another 5lt on the way. The oil was cheap from eurocarparts, only £37.
When I first looked at the forum, I found a list of common jimny mechanical problems. It looks like the list is cursed and I am now being forced through it's contents one item at a time.......

Finally got the transfer box swapped with one supplied by Riccy and all is good. I now have 4L yippee !!! The box was fitted with uprated steel mounts and bolt through rubber bushes. It has made things seem a little more solid....
Coming across a brand new M18A Liana engine needs a mention on the build thread.... but for the wrong reasons.
This beauty came to me from a guy in Darlington, brand new never fitted to a car. I was so excited about having such a beast in my car........ 123bhp and 170nm, it would be great.
I was going to run it with a standalone ecu and ITB's, 160hp and over 200nm. In the region of £2000 for all the bits and another £500 for mapping.
The Finance Fuhrer (wife) has put the boot in and stopped all non essential spending on the Jimny. Can't say I wasn't expecting it but it meant that I didn't have a chance of fitting it in the foreseeable future.
I sold the engine on to another forum member and have been promised a blast when it's done. That will have to be enough........
