This just wear and tear then? So will i need to drain the oil in there before (75/90 oil yeh) and replace? Take it i will ulbolt at transfer end, then what? Is it straight forward?

tbh it will be easyer if you take the transfer box off but you can do it while its still on just unbolt the prop & then undo the big nut holding the flange on the box & then you might need a puller to pull the flange off but not always sometimes they will come off easy
then replace seal & put back together

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The drainplug needs thread sealant on it or it will drip.
(Most people dont bother and simply overtighten it.)
I used some locktite sealant that was knocking around the garage, but likely a tiny smear of stag/red heamatite/silicon will do.
Undo the filler plug before the drain plug in case the filler has been overtightened and wont come out.
