When swapping M15A into Jimny, do ECU, throttle body and other peripherals stay from M13A engine?

You don't have to touch the ECU. Use the throttle body and injectors from the 1.5. Almost everything else needs to be swapped over from the Jimny engine.

I have a 2001 Jimny which I believe is Non-VVT - daft question, but is there any way to tell if it is a VVT engine or not?

I am on the lookout for a replacement engine - ideally something with a bit more power - but trying to find something that will fit is a bit of a job!

The shape of the cylinder head/valve cover - the VVT engines have a pronounced nose to house the cam synchronizer - the engine on the right in the image above is VVT.

Also VVT engines weren't fitted to Jimnys until 2005.

ok cheers guys - having looked, i can confirm it is a 1.3 Non-VVT in my Jimny.

If i were to look for an engine with a bit more power would i need to find a M16A Non-VVT? Are there any other options for me that people are aware of?

Cheers
