Tailgate strut was created by nogbad
Has anybody lengthened the tailgate strut or modified it on the Gen 4 so the door opens to allow full access ?,or did Suzuki do it like this for a reason ,thx.

I expect is deliberate. There a rules around this sort of thing which is also why the lights are in the bumper and on the gen3 is why bulbs are missing from the high level light units.

My guess is to stop the spare tyre sticking out into the road too much with the door fully open..?

I replaced the original strut with a slightly longer one from a Vitara.
This allowed the door to open fully and enables my gun drawer to open fully

I can get you the part number from the strut or pics if that helps
