Just switched to 10" wheels. What do you think?
Some minor hammer work was needed to make room for them, but now there's no rubbing against anything when driving on road.
Next job is flex test, and after that's been sorted out, I'm gonna install some rubber fender flaps along the arches, because those tires stick out a good amount!

Hey you got me a bit worried now Paul with all this mention of keeping c.o.g. low. Now that ive comitted myself with my 2'' bodylift and 4.5'' spring lift I feel I may have took it a step too far
Whats also a bit worrying is what Kirky was mentioning about the guy that was jailed for going too far with his Landrover ie will I have unbalanced my car by raising it too much and altered the on road characteristics. The only good news is im unlikely too be going over 60 at any time.

Smoggy, mine does indeed wallow (same lift as you are planning). But I can corner quite aggressively (within reason), and although the lean is HUGE i would not say its dangerous.

Thanks for that reassurance Sponnie. I have also removed my front anti-roll bar, is yours fitted or removed?

What I've seen and read, it seems to be a weird trend for you UK guys to lift your trucks sky high, and still most people run smaller tires than 31". That doesn't make sense to me. Any unnecessary lift is bad for your truck on and off road. It might corner "well" with crazy lift, but a truck with minimal lift will always handle better no matter what. And same goes with offroading, I personally feel much more comfortable hitting the trail with a "low rider" than a super high moose hunting tower on wheels!
As long as your under chassis protection is tough enough, you don't need too much ground clearance under truck. And what goes with bodylifts, absolutely no gain in any aspect! You can make room for tires without one, and yeah, you get some more clearance under the sides, but that's where rocksliders come in handy.
So keep the lift at absolutely minimum, that makes the best offroad trucks! That's why I want to show you how I like to build my trucks, and hopefully at least one person understands my point, and decides to keep his own Jimny as low as he can...

Actually I'm glad to hear that someone really stops and just thinks about that!Smoggy wrote: Hey you got me a bit worried now Paul with all this mention of keeping c.o.g. low. Now that ive comitted myself with my 2'' bodylift and 4.5'' spring lift I feel I may have took it a step too far

Yes Smoggy no anti roll bars. My wife drives it to work and she loves the way it drives, although at first she did hate it lol
Paul4x4 - I think your truck looks awesome and I'm sure on the road it more than likely drives a lot better than mine.
I do see a lot of people wrecking a sweet handling truck to go massive, but some that do want better articulation for better offroad traction when it gets extreme. I'm gearing up to go to Holymoorside today so I do use it for what is was built for and am glad of the extra articulation. But I do get your point that most do not require it.
