33" was created by Strek
Hi.
I'm planning a Jimny buildup. Anyone have good links or threads with how-to's to the procedure of putting 33" on the Jimny? I reacon 8" rims, but not sure yet, do to the choice of fenders. I would like to use the original fenders, with the trimming neccecary if this is possible.
My question involves spring/bodylift combinations. I would also like to fit this with JUST a good spring/bodylift combination, that means that I would like to avoid to relocate the axels.
I'm also aware on the gearing ratio issue on mounting big wheels like this, so tips on ratios, how tos, and links on this is also appreciated.

I have searched a lot on the web for this, but most of the projects around includes a small set of 31" or less...

Thanks for any coments.

There is a good reason why most builds feature only 31" tyres. This is because you are really entering into major build and major money areas to go to 33".

Rob at Offroad Armory built a Jimny that runs on large tyres. Take a look at both his site and www.dgtuning.com for the ideas and build parts for this

Think the ORA one ran a 4 1/2 lift + 2" body lift

i think they did too but iv always been a believer of articulation but it gets to a point where tire will not fit in the arches so you loose a lot but its personal preference.

if i were to do 33" or bigger id go the route of hilux axles or simalar

Hmm, and which was the ORA one?

Nevertheless, all of the projects I find with 33" include a lot of lift, similar to 4 1/2"+2". I think most of them have to much of clearance between the wheel and the arches. As you can see in the picture above, it has quite small clearance (more like 4" compared to the ones with apx.8"...), and are desirable. After reading around on the topic, my question is this:
Is this setup possible with minimal rubbing:

-2" or 3" springlift
-2" bodylift
-33"x12,5x15
-8" rims (dont know the offset needed)
-standard axel (knowing this is weaker, but is it 100% certain that it will break? Is changing the axel necessary or desirable?)
-cutting a lot on the fenders, probably changing fenders to wider ones, or modifying the originals wider so it will cover the wheels, and the radius of the wheel.
-no gearingmods in stage one, knowing it will be lame and slow. (this is just about the money, this is definitely desirable!)

And yes, feel free to take a guess on the setup on the picture above. It is quite similar to my visual wish.

Thank you all! Great forum!
