Jimny "Hiccups" in Idle was created by Adama
Hi Jimny Gurus
Hope you can help me out.
I own 2006 Jimny 1.3L
Car runs perfectly except when idle.
During idle it sort of "hiccups" for lack of any other term.
Idle on 750rpm nicely and randomly loses rpm to 500 for a millisecond or so.
I changed plugs and coils but no difference.
Hard to explain , so I hope if there is anybody out there that is familiar with this condition might give me some pointers,
Thanx!

Could be the idle control valve needs a clean, could be the breather valve on the rocker cover needs replacing.

Would recommend cleaning/replacing the pcv valve. Guess that's what Busta meant aswell. It should only let air flow through one way, not both. I cleaned one with some brake cleaner (not sure if this was the right way to do it ), got some gunk out, helped a bit.

It's the yellow part obviously, you can just pull it out.
Oh that pic is off a vitara, but it's kind of similar in jimny aswell I'd think. Has a 90 degree angle.

Thanks guys
I checked the valve cleaned it thoroughly.
Air goes one way only,
Any more thoughts before I have to remove the throttle body to get access to clean the IAC?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Mine has a misfire at idle, every few seconds it misses a beat, and I think it might stall, but it recovers.
Has done it for years. I checked everything that it could be, except valve clearances (a tight valve might cause enough loss of compression at idle) as it needs an expensive gasket and a good deal of enthusiasm.
(My compression tester won't fit, and I don't have one of those new fangled starter current measuring ones)
A couple of others have it too, Rhinoman ( I think ) suggested that it was supposed to.
I tried to access the legendary mode $06 with a scantool, to look at misfire counts to see if it was a missfire but it doesn't seem to support it.
If the misfires exceed a threshold the MIL should set and return a P030X code, where X is the errant cylinder, but it never has.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Yes, its the ECU testing the EGR valve - if it doesn't hiccup then the EGR system is faulty. You can blame the EU and their emissions regulations, in the old days the EGR was just tested during deceleration but if you drive in town all the time that test never happens.
Mode 06 is not compulsory so its not supported, a genuine Suzuki tool uses the 'OBD1' interface.
