Tyre Sizes - Rough Guide Thread

an alternative choice with low cost, 225/75-16 (29.5") with 2,5 inch suspension lift (keep standar arms etc), 2 inch body lift and a little arch trimming. The tyres are almost 30" but you have a much better fuel consumption than with the 30x9.5-15 and the car remain driveable on road!

I've made this a sticky as requested, given the number of these types of questions we get.

Just to add to the info. with a little mini review of the Kumho KL71 thrown in.



I've been running 195 80 15, Kumho KL71 on a standard UK G13 engined jimny (with Anti Roll Bar) without issues, I would say these are not aggressive mud tires though as the edges are rounded inward like a normal tyre (I've seen some mud tyres that are really knobbly and straight sided, maybe even sticking out a bit) The lack of aggression contributes nicely to the fact that this is 90%+ road car and my daily drive.

It had the (adverse?) effect of "correcting" my speedo, GPS speed, is now clock speed, so I have to keep an eye on the speed!As a result my mpg seems to have dropped, but in reality, it's just clocking less mileage :woohoo: . Its also brought the RPM down about 200rpm on the motorway which makes things more comfortable. Still accelerates like billy'O' under 40 and thus.....

The rear tyres let loose on slippery/dirty/greasy tarmac relatively easily but quite predictably. very heavy braking as heavy as I felt I could (on an empty road) feels good from 70mph, even with a dodgy calliper steering me to one side. No vibration or wobble at all 10mph - 80mph but under 10mph, you feel every knobble of the tire, its fairly noisy!

So that's my mini review of the tyres from user perspective, apparently - they're pretty good all rounders off road, but I'm not experienced enough to comment - I've just never had issues with them so far.

Will 215/70 15 work on a standard -2005 (vvt) whitout mods ?

Yes.

Will driving on the road be awful with a 31 / 10.5 R 15.

Will the above tyre fit on a stnadard steel rim?
