sounds like the CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING when you put pressure on it it clamps the bearing tighter and shuts it up untill it gets so bad it just brakes up at the worst moment poss like mine did on my impreza i was NOT racing i went to grab third gear and it went bang and hit the rev limiter
