On Tarmac, does it happen if you drive in a straight line - or only while turning?

If the latter, its probably just the wind up that people have mentioned - though 10' is a very short distance for it to occur in and it wouldn't normally stop the vehicle.

If it's the former, I would check to see if the front & rear diffs are the same ratio. To do this, put it in 2WD and jack up one wheel. Count the number of revolutions of the prop shaft for one revolution of the wheel.

Alternatively, make a mark (TipEx) on the front and rear prop shafts so that the marks line up with one another. Then, in 2WD drive it in a straight line for a short distance. If the marks no longer line up - then the diffs are different ratios.

front & rear should be exactly the same. Jimnys can have 4.11 or 3.9:1 ratio. It is possible the owner had replaced one diff with the wrong ratio.
