CV joint cost? was created by Nobby22
Hi all

I've got the car booked in for monday to have the front off-side wheel checked. Its making a clicking sound when turning, mainly in reverse. I have checked for play in the kingpins and there is none. So iam thinking its probably the CV joint. Just wondered if anyone knows what they cost? I assume we a talking hundreds. :( .

Cheers

Hi,

CV joint just around £54 ish, and follow Martins ( How to guide )............or hundreds like you say.

I'd take it slow and do it yourself, just a dirty job and put a sheet of something down on the floor to catch all the slime lol

There are two types. One is around £50 or less from motor factors (including me). The other is Suzuki only and only comes with the entire shaft for ££££'s

Watch out for cheap ebAy ones, they are often completely wrong

Hi all

Well in total it all cost £400. Oh well, there goes the winch! . I had to have BOTH of them replaced. At some point in the past the wrong type of grease had been used. He said the grease had dried out inside the housing. Lucky i had them checked. That could have been a disaster if they had failed off-road. Its now because of this i can no longer go to bigjimny. :( . I surpose £400 is nothing compared to if i had gon to Suzuki.
