yea thanks jack i agree with you, im gonna leave the one in it for a couple of days and if no CEL ill return it monday morning no harm done. i have one final question about the rear window heater and i can find no other threads on the forum anything to do with it. has anyone got any ideas why only one line is heating on the window? its very easily seen in the picture i will attach. thanks

The other lines are broken and only the one that heats has continuity.

There are a couple of different ways to locate the breaks, the first being to visually examine each line, the second & third require a test meter.

Turn the heater off, set the meter for continuity and clip one lead to the heater connection on one side (doesn't matter which) and then make a small "flag" with aluminium foil and wrap it around the probe tip of the other lead and then slowly rub the flag down each line, if you start at the end of the line where the meter is connected, you should have continuity until you pass the break.

The third method is a variation on the second, but the meter is set for voltage and the heater needs to be switched on.
