Gen4 Workshop Manual was created by mlines
Those of you who have the Jimny Gen4 Workshop manual will have noticed it has stopped working. This is due to the withdrawl of Adobe Flash Player on 12th January. Flash player is used to display the images and diagrams. The issue is increased by the fact that the manual only works in Internet Explorer.

I am in IT and have not yet explored options for re-enabling Flash or loading a flash emulator extension such as Ruffle. But being in IT, I am lazy and its easier to see if anyone else has a quick fix for this to avoid me having to think!

I wonder what the dealers will do to get around it? Their system must have used Flash as well?

They use the online subscription system which is different. I have checked the subscription system and it still works just fine, I just use the official CD to keep my subscription costs down.

I have also contacted them.

In the meantime it happily runs on an old Windows XP virtual machine.

Email received from Suzuki GB. Their parts dept. will communicate with Suzuki Japan and get back to me.

I have received 3 emails from Natalie at Suzuki. They are dated 15th Jan. 22nd Jan. and 27th Jan. Basically Natalie is telling me that she is waiting for a reply to my original email. I emailed again on the 28th Jan. suggesting that to resolve the issue I would accept a print out, in colour, on A4. That way I got my manual and they kept the money.
So far no response.

You can supposedly get hold of an old version of Firefox and Flash will still work, note that Flash was forcebly turned off like this for a reason, it's terribly insecure and if you were to go down this route do not use that browser for anything else, it would be better if it just didn't have internet access at all.

If there is anyone that no longer wants their CD version and would consider selling it and posting it to Australia please get in touch, we had a bit of a workaround to gain access to an online version but now have nothing and no way legitimate or otherwise of getting hold of a copy.

Edit, the AU version still exists, but the link changed. It now has svg files where the flash ones were so works in modern browsers.
So maybe those lucky enough to have a cd might be able to get a replacement version like this.

If you copy the contents of the CD into a web server, it all works and loads jpg rather than swf, so everything is visible.

I will leave it up to you all on how you go about creating a web server on your PC etc as I am sure there are numerous different ways to do that.

I created a virtual machine on my PC using oracle virtualbox (free) and a copy of Windows XP. I then copied the CD into the environment and it works fine.
